RFID system can be used to track patients, doctors and expensive equipment in hospitals in real time. RFID tags can be attached to the ID bracelets of all patients, or just patients requiring special attention, so their location can be tracked continuously. Active Wave RFID technology can also provide an electronic link for wireless communication of patient data. An instant assessment of critical equipment and personnel locations is also possible through RFID technology. These applications can be combined with Active Wave access control to allow only authorized personnel to access to critical areas the hospital.
RFID tags are tagged to the new born; the unique number in the tag is assigned to the infant, mother, and support person in the database. There are readers located near the stairs, elevator, and all exits that alert the nursing staff about the infant movements to avoid mix ups and traceability.
